Join thousands of players in the world of Mythador, the setting for 505’s spectacular MMORTS Dawn of Fantasy. Peace had reigned for generations; so long, that war was merely remembered in the babblings of the old and senile, and the three races were considered near friends. That was until the leaders of each race mysteriously disappeared without trace or were killed by unknown assailants, and the ensuing ‘War Without Kings’ left the world a suspicious, smouldering place. Dawn of Fantasy takes the player along three possible stories, exploring the fallout from this worldwide devastation – and uncovering the agents and rogues that may have been behind it.
Even the Orders of Wizards, long relied upon to maintain order, seem to have fallen victim to this universal dissent. The orders of Calm and Deep resisted the horrors of war – but the Wave, dedicated to renewing life through chaos, worked on turning each race against its neighbours. It is rumoured that the Gods themselves deep in the Great Lake are bored and seek to make the world anew; that the Wave were simply their agents in this. Soon they may discover that it’s much harder to stop wars than to start them.
In the Orc realm, the king was in turn kidnapped and spirited to the human kingdom, where he was murdered. His ten heirs and his warlords squabble amongst themselves over the divided kingdom, recruiting individual armies, whilst the mother city of the Orcs, Makkada, is besieged by vengeful human forces. Meanwhile, a rogue elf approaches the kingdom with an offer that might just destroy both races.
Far into the cloud-scraping forests of the Elven kingdom, the war has provided an opportunity for the revival of old rituals; old feuds are settled and new nobles are created from great acts of heroism, but this struggle for social standing only exacerbates the troubles of war. Without their kidnapped king, the Conclave of Archons rules, refusing to allow the King’s only daughter to reign in his place, provoking chaos in a leaderless country. Rumours of High Elves even attacking their Wood Elf brethren have reached the capital…
And in the middle, the humans, numerous, strong, but divided; the ancient rivalry of the twin cities of Menthorn and Dagbor erupted at the low point of the war, with the king murdered; the rebellion was put down and Dagbor rules again, but tension still simmers. The young King suspects that a particular rogue wizard was instrumental in his father’s death and is intent on his capture; meanwhile, the Elven Princess is seeking his aid against her Archons and the king must divide his forces.
Mythador is rife with intrigue and mistrust; ancient veterans dust off their armour, citadel walls are strengthened and armies gathered. The war is only in abeyance, not gone; sharpen your sword and prepare for a new Dawn of Fantasy.
Released exclusively for PC, Dawn of Fantasy will be published by 505 Games this September.
