Developer Relative Games’ customizable shmup, CounterAttack Uprising, was originally a PC exclusive when it launched in 2019. Since then console versions of the game have sprouted up gradually, first on XBox and now, today, on Switch. New additions to the Switch version include two new levels (Anomaly and Gate), a redesigned player selector, 25 new attachments and a lot of bug fixes.
CounterAttack Uprising is your typical bullet-hell shooter, but with a “customizable” twist that means you have the ability to choose from eight different characters, each with their own unique ship: , Ayumi (Tactical Nuke), Biff (Big Biff Beam), Marcus (Meson Shockwave), Joe (Overcharge), Sarah (Quantium Shield), Sloane (Fighter Squadron), Carl (Plasma Strike) and Jinx (Hack Wave). But it doesn’t stop there. As you play the game, you’ll unlock new weapons, powers and upgrades, and can modify your ship any way you like. There are over 600 attachments to find, meaning no two games will be the same.
“Being on a Nintendo console is a dream come true,” says Tyler Boyes, founder of Relative Games. “To mark the occasion, the Switch port of CounterAttack is introducing a new subtitle – Uprising – which puts the spotlight on the game’s sprawling narrative. Once we launch on Switch, all other versions will get the Uprising moniker as well.” And so it has happened.
- Choose from 8 playable characters, each with their own unique ship.
- Fight your way through 32+ levels and almost the same number of bosses!
- Assemble your fighter from special weapons, upgrades, and 600+ attachments.
- Enjoy true co-op gameplay with 2-4 players online and 1-4 players local co-op – including crossplay.
- Put together your own missions and levels using the game’s unique campaign/level editor.
- Challenge yourself with three Endless survival modes.
The Switch version of CounterAttack Uprising is now available on the eShop at a 15% discounted price of $12.74. Eventually the game will revert to its intended MSRP of $14.99.
