As you have heard, the smoking demon fighter John Constantine is coming back to Arrow this fall, but some questions have been raised by his appearance. Mainly, what is he doing on Arrow in the first place? Originally, he was teased to be coming to Arrow to help Oliver Queen understand the mysticism of Ra’s al Ghul and his “magics”. Now, it appears he’ll be helping deal with the fallout of a certain resurrection. As we all know, Sara Lance (who was killed this past season on Arrow) will return to the land of the living and will then head to the Legends of Tomorrow team. Constantine is apparently going to help deal with the fallout of Sara’s resurrection, as we’re told by Marc Guggenheim at the TCA’s (via TVInsider).
“Unlike Thea, who wasn’t fully dead, the consequences of using the pit on someone as dead as Sara was creates some unforeseen difficulties,” said Guggenheim. “And John Constantine is uniquely suited to help our team deal with those.”
At the moment, Matt Ryan is only scheduled to appear as Constantine for a single episode. However, that can change as time goes on, especially if Arrow fans react to him like Constantine fans did. Arrow Season 4 comes debuts on October 7th on The CW. There is still no word on which episode Constantine will appear.
