No, this headline doesn’t mean Max is starting a new late-night show for Conan O’Brien. The sad reality is O’Brien was simply too talented for the late-night industry to handle. That career is meant for bland guys named Jimmy.
What Conan CAN do is film himself traveling around the world, package up the footage and sell it as a miniseries. That’s CONAN O’BRIEN MUST GO….a four-parter coming to Max next month. The series is an extension of Conan’s popular podcast, “Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend,” which you should have been listening to already.
The premise (and excuse for the airfare) is that some of the “friends” Conan has made through his podcast live in other counties, and so Conan is coming to visit them. You may have seen clips from these visits last year; that was from when Max first announced the series. They’ve apparently been sitting on it this whole time; a reality show shouldn’t take that long to edit, especially one that’s four episodes long.
But they’re finally setting it free so we can all see what Conan was up to last year.
CONAN O’BRIEN MUST GO features the Emmy®-winning host visiting new friends he’s met through his podcast, “Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan,” where he dives deep with listeners from around the world. Making stops in Norway, Thailand, Argentina, and Ireland, O’Brien surprises some of his most memorable fans while also taking in local culture, cuisine, and sights.
Check out CONAN O’BRIEN MUST GO on Max April 18. And if you behave yourself, maybe Conan will visit you too.
