Coming To Super Mario Maker: Bouncy Donuts And More
Nintendo has announced the next update for Super Mario Maker, which will go live November 21 in the US and November 22 in Europe.
Once the update hits, when you shake the Koopa Clown Car it’ll turn into the Fire Koopa Clown Car. There are many levels that people have tried to make into shmups (shoot ’em ups) using the original Clown Car and the Fire Flower. This new item eliminates the middleman and just introduces a fireball-shooting hover vehicle. Unlike the Fire Flower, you’ll be able to charge up your shots and destroy bricks with fireballs! You could use it to make shmup levels, sure, but it could also potentially make any enemy far more dangerous….
The bouncy donuts pictured above are another new addition; called Bumpers, they behave like Note Blocks only in 360 degrees. Touch one and you ricochet in another direction. Touch several in a row and yell curses while exiting the level and playing something else.
There’s even more devious potential in the P-Warp Door, the third item to be introduced. It works like a regular Warp Door except it’s only visible during the brief time a P-Switch is activated. Ghost Houses are about to get a lot more diabolical with this feature!
Course World will also be updated with new listings: you’ll now be able to see the fastest time a level was completed, and the Mii face of whoever did it, much like the arcade leaderboards of old. Also listed in the level’s information will be the first person who played that level, in case you want to know such things.
These updates will be live on Super Mario Maker next Monday. Check out the video below to see the new features in action.
