CD Projekt Red Thinks Nintendo NX Will be “Fantastic”
Despite the fact that the Nintendo NX is less than a year away from release, we know very little about the console. This means Nintendo fans and the media have largely had to rely on leaks and reports from developers to get any information. This is exactly what happened earlier today when the communications manager at CD Projekt Red, the developer of The Witcher series, spoke to Rocket Beans TV about the platform at E3.
“It will be fantastic,” he said in a transcript of the interview. “As developer [CD Projekt] you get access to the hardware and everybody [at CD Projekt] is looking forward. We know things. What we have heard [from developers] about the NX is all very positive.”
Meanwhile, the CEO of GameStop, Paul Raines, has confirmed that the Nintendo NX will support physical media. This is contrary to some reports that Nintendo’s new console would only work with digital titles when it releases. However, he failed to go into specifics about exactly what that physical media would be and Nintendo have so far not spoken about the format they have chosen for the NX. Speaking to Destructoid, Rains said:
“I would say that the fact that there are rumors of that type just confirms for you that this is an important console for next year. It will have physical media, we will play a role in it, our pre-owned business will also play a role. So we’re excited about that.”
“The only difference would be on the refurbishment and pre-owned side. And actually, cartridges are much simpler to refurbish and repackage. So there is somewhat a little bit of an advantage if it went in that direction on used.”
