Azucena joins the Battle!
The TEKKEN 8 community witnessed an exciting revelation with the introduction of Azucena in the game’s latest trailer. Addressing a significant concern among fans, the primary issue with TEKKEN 8’s reception was the dominance of returning characters. Harada offered a clear rationale, emphasizing that legacy characters underwent a complete overhaul. Their movesets underwent modifications, accompanied by the utilization of legacy character models. Street Fighter 6 got the hype from it’s new characters. Mortal Kombat 1 reveals only returning characters but they compensated it with Guest characters.
The narrative takes a lively twist now, as Azucena takes the stage as the inaugural fresh face in TEKKEN 8. She is distinctly known as the “Queen of Coffee,” hailing from Peru. A noteworthy aspect is the presence of a Latina character, a milestone departure from the existing Hispanic characters such as Miguel, a White Spaniard, and King, the mask-donning Mexican Luchador, who remained mute throughout. The spotlight finally shines on a Peruvian representative, with her battleground set amidst the scenic backdrop of Machu Picchu, complete with adorable llamas adding to the ambiance. Its nice to hear her talk in Spanish with a Peruvian accent.

The TEKKEN 8 Azucena Reveal & Gameplay Trailer presents a unique combat style. It diverges from traditional martial arts and leans toward cunning, unorthodox strategies rooted in MMA principles. Azucena’s standout move is the Libertador. It involves a captivating stance shift that exposes her to attacks from above and below. Surprisingly, she skillfully anticipates and evades such assaults.
In essence, Azucena’s character unveiling and gameplay trailer address concerns. They arise due to a character roster dominated by returning fighters. Additionally, they usher in a new era of diversity and innovation within TEKKEN 8’s fighting arena.
However, Azucena didn’t enter the tournament alone. The long-absent Raven from Tekken 7 returns in Tekken 8. In the previous game, Raven was temporarily replaced. A female character named Raven Master took his place. She was intended to serve as his mentor. Although Raven Master gained some fans during her presence, she couldn’t replace the classic appeal of the original character.
