Armed with Controllers plays: Hypotenuse / Aban Hawkins and the 1000 Spikes
It’s the final day of the working week, which means it’s time for our Armed with Controllers Friday feature!
Today, we’re going back in time to Stapesy’s playthrough of marvellously charming indie title Hypotenuse, developed by iamrece. As what looks like a rectangular slab of tofu, players must use their ninja skills to defeat wave after wave of enemy rectangles. Although its idea and presentation are minimalist to the extreme, this slice ‘em up is a tonne of fun, and inspires many a Pythagoras theorem joke.
But that’s not all. His thirst for abstract violence quenched, Stapesy heads into catacombs of 8Bits Fanatics’ Aban Hawkins and the 1000 Spikes. In this retro Indiana Jones pastiche, the aim of the game is to clear each crypt by dodging a series of obstacles. Sounds simple enough, right? Then why do you start the game with 1,000 lives?
Let’s find out, shall we?
