Make Your Own RPG and Play It in Let’s Build a Dungeon’s New Demo

You may have played an RPG before, but this game wants you to make your own for others! Check out this new Steam demo for Let’s Build a Dungeon!

Developed by Springloaded, Let’s Build a Dungeon is a unique management simulator. You create and manage an RPG for virtual players to enjoy. From quests, dungeons, NPCs, and more, you have full control over everything in the game as you make in your own image.

The game emphasizes creativity above all else, with every aspect being deeply customizable. Sprites for NPCs can be freely created and edited, and dialogue written however you want. Let’s Build a Dungeon is not just a game, but a sandbox for those that emulates the feeling of developing a game.

DUNGEONS, QUESTS, AND MANAGING PLAYERS

The game is split into multiple different modes, each giving players a different way to experience the gameplay. The primary Campaign mode has you in charge of running a studio and developing the game. On top of developing the game, you have to manage your workers and players to make money, and retain both your staff and audience.

If you find managing a company to be too much, there is also the Just Build mode. As the name suggests, you’re only tasked with building a world through the use of a deck building system. This laid back mode that allows you to relax and mess around to make a successful RPG.

However, if you want to really immerse yourself into developing a game, then Creative mode is what you need. This mode is all about creating the world how you want, with no management or deck building involved. If you yearn to develop a game, than a dip into Creative mode may spur you onto even greater things.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE DEMO

  • Campaign Mode – An in-depth game development simulation combining studio management, RPG creation and hands-on playtesting
  • Just Build Mode – A streamlined, low-pressure world-building experience powered by a relaxing deck-building system
  • Creative Mode – An open sandbox packed with accessible game-making tools and full creative control
  • Twitch Integration – Multiple options for collaborations, including inviting chat into the game as virtual players and letting them vote on key studio decisions

This sounds like a blast! I love the idea of being able to create your own RPG and share it with others. It reminds me of games like RPG Maker, where you can really let your creativity shine. Plus, with the dungeon-building aspect, it seems like it could lead to some really fun and unique experiences. Have you had a chance to try the demo yet? I’d love to hear what kind of dungeons or stories you might want to create!

Man this game is smart. You get to be the developer and the players at the same time in a way. I love that you can invite chat to play as the virtual adventurers and let them decide big choices. That alone makes it special. The deck building for Just Build mode also sounds fun and not too heavy. I’ll check the demo and see if it’s as easy as it says.

Looks chill. I don’t need complicated stuff, so Just Build mode with the deck system is probably where I’ll stay. Just relax and make a good RPG world. No angry workers or money problems. The pictures show nice looking characters so the sprite editor must be decent. Hope the demo lets me test everything without limits.

This is different from usual RPGs and I like that. Instead of playing a hero you become the one who creates the whole adventure for others. Creative mode especially feels like real game making but easier. I might spend hours just editing NPCs and writing funny dialogues. Demo is out so I’m jumping in to see how deep it goes.
