When it was announced that Apocalypse would make his big screen debut in the next X-Men movie (which is proven as the movie is called X-Men: Apocalypse, among other confirmations of course) many questions were instantly asked. Chief among them was about his legendary Four Horsemen.
In the comics, the Four Horsemen were his literal heralds/personal team of killers, and like the villain himself, they believed in survival of the fittest. They obeyed every order, even if at one time they were good.
Chief among these horsemen, and arguably the most famous one of all, is Angel. Who was originally a founding member of the X-Men, but thanks to the evils of Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister, he soon became Archangel, horsemen to Apocalypse, and Apocalypse himself later on as comics would show.
Angel and Apocalypse are tied together, so it wasn’t hard to wonder if Angel would be in this film, especially with Days of Future Past reworking the timeline. Well, now we got confirmation (via Empire), and then some!
“Ben Hardy is Angel – I shall confirm it for you!” said Bryan Singer. “But he’s not a very nice Angel! And that’s all I’ll say…”
As if that wasn’t enough, we got artwork for what Angel…or should I say Archangel…will look like in the film. This may only be the first part of a very dark transformation.
