Amazon Prime’s Best Show, Undone, Returns April 29

Those jerky “Boys” can go pound sand — the best reason to have an Amazon Prime subscription is the eight episodes of Undone, an amazing animated series combining reality with supernatural mystery in a mesmerizing rotoscoped presentation. We’re pleased to report soon there will be more than eight!

Alma (played by Rosa Salazar) is a snarky rebellious twentysomething living in southern Texas. What she doesn’t know — until a car crash injury reveals the truth — is that she’s the descendant of a long line of shamans and the knock to her head has just awakened her powers. They include the ability to see the dead (her deceased father becomes her guide into figuring all this out) and, more crucially, the ability to shift back in time into an earlier version of herself. With practice, Alma may actually be able to alter past events. And as the Season 2 teasers hint, she may not be the only one…

Undone premiered on Prime in late 2019, just before the pandemic made it impossible to know what was truly safe or renewed. Even though Amazon promised a Season 2 was happening…as Netflix’s GLOW proved, promises were cheap. Years of silence made me assume one of my favorite shows would forever be just eight episodes in length. I’m pleased and relieved to be wrong.

The original season of Undone ended on a cruel cliffhanger we’ve been waiting years to see the resolution of, and feared we never would. Don’t miss the return of the show April 29 — and if you haven’t seen the first season, watch it ASAP. You won’t regret it!
