Walking Dead Universe RPG Coming November 28

Earlier this year, Free League ran a crowdfunding campaign for The Walking Dead Universe, a tabletop RPG based on the AMC TV show and its spinoffs. The campaign managed to raise nearly $600,000 and reach 18 stretch goals. The plan was always to release the game commercially so if you missed the campaign, you’ll be able to nab the retail version later this month.

To make this project authentic, Free League worked with Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple and Head of AMC Networks Publishing Mike Zagari to pull in material from all established locales seen in the ten seasons of TWD, as well as some new areas no one’s seen yet.

You and your friends form survivor characters struggling to make it in a post-apocalyptic world. If you’re familiar with the show, you know what kind of challenges you’ll face in the game: finding supplies, fending off Walkers and, as always, fighting the corruption inherent in humanity itself. There will be two ways to play the game: Campaign Mode, a long-running session where your choices create the next scenario, and Survival Mode, a shorter, tighter game where you fight to resolve one particular situation.

The Walking Dead Universe is directed by Free League co-founders Tomas Härenstam (ALIEN RPG, Blade Runner RPG) and Mattias Johnsson Haake (Symbaroum), with Nils Hintze (Tales from the Loop RPG, Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying) as lead writer, Gustaf Ekelund (Twilight: 2000) and Martin Grip (ALIEN RPG, Blade Runner RPG) as lead artists, and Genuine Entertainment’s Joe LeFavi (ALIEN RPG, Blade Runner RPG, Dune, The Dragon Prince) as producer and brand manager on the game series.

You’ll be able to find The Walking Dead Universe online and hobby shops nationwide starting November 28.
