5 Possible Suprise E3 Announcements From Sony
E3 2011 is nearly here, and everyone is speculating on what the big three are going to announce. Over the course of this week we are going to speculate on 5 possible announcements from each of the big three. If anyone has the potential for several high-key announcements it’s Sony. No company can match Sony with the amount of potential announcements. Nintendo has been exhausting a lot of their key franchises (Several companies are guilty of this) and Microsoft just doesn’t have the amount of exclusives to compete with either Nintendo or Sony. Hit the break to view our possible picks that could be unveiled at Sony’s press conference. Note: Even though we listed 5 they aren’t in any particular order.
5. Kingdom Hearts III
Square Enix hasn’t exactly pumped out quality titles over the last couple of years and with the exception of Final Fantasy VIII has really lacked a significant cash-cow. Kingdom Hearts III has long been teased and rumored, however no concrete announcement or dates have been established. If Sony somehow managed to secure an exclusive deal for Kingdom Hearts III it would send ripples through the entire show. Is it possible? Yes, but it’s somewhat unlikely. Pull up your keyblade and hope we are wrong.
4. Syphon Filter 5
This title has been rumored heavily since late 2008, however Sony hasn’t revealed anything specific regarding the franchise. The iterations on the PSP were highly regarded as some of the best titles for the platform and with the increasing popularity of the shooter market on consoles could lead one to believe that a reboot for the series could arrive on the PlayStation 3. The main creators of the franchise (Sony Bend) would most likely not be handling the development of the project, due in part to their current project which is a NGP Uncharted title. What does Sony have planned for 2012? A Syphon Filter reboot would fit well into their catalog of exclusives for 2012.
3. Fat Princess 2
Titan Studios has been absolutely silent since their release of DLC for Fat Princess. Fat Princess properly demonstrated the type of quality Sony should be striving for one when it comes to exclusive PSN titles, and we can’t help but wonder if they are working on a sequel. A sequel announcement at this year’s E3 is highly likely. You can never have enough cake, right?
2. Dark Cloud 3
Like Syphon Filter, this title has been rumored for a long time and several interviews have pointed towards Dark Cloud 3’s existence, however it’s possible that this type of announcement would be saved for TGS (if they decide to do it after all the recent disasters). A Dark Cloud 3 announcement would mark a fresh change of pace from all of the shooters the PS3 has and instead opt for a quality role-playing game; a genre the system is severely lacking.
1. Sly Cooper 4
It’s not a matter of if but rather when. Sucker Punch has actively teased the next iteration in the Sly Cooper franchise and we can’t help but think that Sony could officially unveiled the title at this year’s E3. With Sucker Punch wrapping up production of inFAMOUS 2 and with the rumors that Sly Cooper 4 has been in development it’s entirely plausible we could see an announcement at E3.
Honorable Mention (Highly Unlikely)
- MediEvil
- Folklore 2
- War of the Monsters 2
- Jak and Daxter 4
- Quantic Dream New IP
- Media Molecule New IP (RPG)

Heavenly Sword 2, God Of War IV, Jak & Daxter IV, New Wipeout, Folklore 2, Yakuza 5…….if any of those games get announced my head will literally explode.
I’m also hoping to get a solid release date for games like Final Fantasy Versus XIII, The Agent and The Last Guardian.

I know, that was going to be a pretty slick game. We spent so much time discussing that at E3.
