♦ It Was the Last Conversation
“Your Honor” is an intense legal drama where a judge is thrown into the proverbial “ethical and moral dilemma”. One can always take the high ground and stand on their morals, ethics. and principles, until their child does something wrong. All of a sudden, they can justify doing anything and everything to cover up for their children.
Song Pan Ho, is a judge and his son, Son Ho Young, is involved in a hit-and-run accident. Song Pan Ho has been presiding over a case involving a notorious crime boss, Kim Kang Heon. The crime boss is currently serving time in prison. Yet he manages to still play the part of “World’s Greatest Dad” and buys his beloved son a motorcycle. His son calls him even though he’s in prison to express his appreciation and tell his dad how pleased he is with the gift. If only the crime boss had known that was going to be the last conversation he had with his son.
Is My Dad the “World’s Greatest Dad”?
Son Ho Young’s mother died and he is grieving and having a hard time trying to cope with the loss. He suffers from asthma and after visiting his mother’s grave, while driving home, he has difficulty breathing and also has pains in his chest. While driving and trying to get his breath, he loses control of his car. The son of the crime boss is on the same road traveling in the opposite direction. Son Ho Young’s swerves out of the lane and there is a head-on collision – the motorcycle crashes into the car.
His asthma flared up even worse because he was in full-blown panic mode. When Son Ho Young gets out of his car to check and the cell phone that belongs to the son of the crime boss starts ringing. He picks up the phone, but does not answer the call. Instead he dials “119” for emergency. But he is having so much difficulty breathing that he can’t speak. The 119 dispatch officer keeps trying to get information but all he can do is try to get air so he can breathe. He then stumbles back to his own car to get his phone and tries to call his father, the judge.
But the judge is in court right at that moment making his final decision regarding the case of the crime boss, Kim Kang Heon. Once he is no longer on the bench, he checks his phone and realizes that his son has called him several times. He calls his son to find out what’s going on and when he gets home his son explains what happened. Song Pan Ho takes his son to the police station with the intention of having Son Ho Young confess and accept the consequences of his bad decisions, even though there are mitigating circumstances.
Son Ho Young waited in the car and his father, the judge, went into the police station where IT WAS CHAOS! The judge was wondering what all the excitement was about and one of the detectives told him that the son of the crime boss, Kim Kang Heon, had died from a hit-and-run accident. That’s when Song Pan Ho realized that his son had killed the son of a crime boss. Rather than have his son confess, he left the police station, returned home with his son, told his son to write down everything that happened, and from that point forward proceeded to try to cover up what his son had done. Well! What would you do? His son didn’t just hit somebody and leave the scene which is against the law. HE HIT AND KILLED THE SON OF A CRIME BOSS!! The judge knows his own son is in danger because it’s very likely the crime boss will want REVENGE!
Pointing Fingers of Blame Could Cause a Gang War!
Meanwhile, the crime boss, Kim Kang Heon, is grieving the loss pf his son and is baffled because he does not know if his son was a target of rival crime gang or if it was an accident with an unrelated person. If his son was not a target, who was the driver of the car that fled from the scene? He hesitates to make a move because he does not know who to strike or where to strike.
On the other hand, the other son of the crime boss wants to know who killed his little brother. He is already going around threatening leaders of rival gangs telling them that if they said they didn’t do it, then they better find out who did! Otherwise, blood will be spilled.

I know the right thing to do was for the son to go turn himself in, confess to leaving the scene of the accident, and take whatever punishment he had coming. I know that the father, a judge, trying to cover up what his son had done was NOT the right thing to do. But if I’m being honest, eh! … maybe the judge and his son should just keep quiet and .. let the crime gangs kill each other!! I KNOW! I KNOW!! That’s a bad thing. But … if you were in that situation, wouldn’t that thought cross your mind?
