The launch of the souped up Xbox One S console is actually right around the corner. Microsoft has officially revealed that the upcoming Xbox One S console has been dated for an August 2 release. You can check out a new video released by Microsoft earlier today for the new piece of hardware in the player below.
The console is set to feature 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, 4K video streaming and High Dynamic Range support for games and video. The 2TB Launch Edition that will be available this August is priced at $399. It’s also available for pre-order now. The console also boasts an internal power supply, and it’s constructed to be 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One. On top of that, a vertical console stand will be released with the 2TB edition.
Another added feature for the Xbox One is an integrated IR blaster. This will allow owners to configure their Xbox One S to turn on some of their other personal devices such as their cable or satellite receiver. The official website for the console indicates that will have some level of backwards compatibility and play classic Xbox 360 video games.
So it seems the wait for the Xbox One S is pretty short as the launch is just a few weeks away. It should be interested to see how this enhanced Xbox One performs with gamers.
