Swedish based Triolith Entertainment, the mobile developer focusing on quality rather than quantity, are set to officially release their popular Android title Wisp onto the Apple platform on June 15th 2011, priced at USD$0.99 / GBP£0.59 / EUR€0.79 for the first week until the 22nd June 2011, after which it will be available for USD$2.99 / GBP£1.79 / EUR€2.39.
Inspired by Nordic tradition and folklore, and featuring a stunningly beautiful look coupled with an enchanting musical score, Wisp sees the player take on the role of Eira, a wisp of the forest. Lost and alone, the player must help her find her way home. The journey won’t be without its dangers though: in the forest lies the ancient and bleeding creature Fáfnir. His blood seeps from his wounds and out into the forest where it gains a life of its own, corrupting and defiling the surrounding woods and any life it comes in contact with. Eira has to avoid being consumed, while solving the mysteries that lay in each level ahead of her.
Wisp has been critically well received on Android, with reviewers raving about its relaxing gameplay mechanics, stunning soundtrack and unique style.
“We wanted to create something different, and focus on delivering a quality experience that harked back to the golden age of gaming” stated Magnus Söderberg, Triolith CEO. He continued ”Being Swedish, we have a history of legend and magic that we can draw on for inspiration and Wisp plays out like a magical tale that we used to hear when we were children. It’s a game for relaxing to, for when you need to shut the world out for a few moments and just be in the now. We’re very proud of it”
