Whitney Houston is going to have an authorized Biopic from Sony Pictures. Anthony McCarten will pen the screenplay. He is the writer of the Award Winning flick,The Bohemian Rhapsody.
The Bohemian Rhapsody introduced Freddie Mercury and his Band Queen to the new generation. I have a nephew who refuses to listen to “boomer” music but The movie about Queen made him a fan of Freddy Mercury’s music.
It is hard to believe it, but we now have a generation of kids who don’t know this legend. It will be timely to reintroduce Whitney’s music and legacy to the Gen Z.
Naomi Ackie will play the late great Whitney Houston. The Bohemian Rhapsody ended positively, so this Biopic may not include the scandals and Death of the Legendary Actress-singer.

The title of the movie is a tribute to one of her hit songs.
Because Whitney Houston is known for her ballads, it’s intriguing that Sony picked a joyful uplifting song to reflect her life. My theory is the movie will be like The Bohemian Rhapsody. That movie only focused on the rise of Queen as a band. That film omitted his death and controversies.
Whitney became the standard of the industry when she became prominent. There is always a contestant who sings her song regardless of how hard to belt them in every Singing contest. Aside from singing, she also have successful acting stints. One of them is The Bodyguard.
Whitney Houston was gone too soon, and her life ended in a tragedy. Seven years ago, Lifetime TV Network made an unauthorized Whitney Houston biopic before, but it focused way too much on the scandals of her life. It is disrespectful and tasteless, so the upcoming movie wanted to give her the respect she deserved.

The controversies are part of her life though. Why are they going to make a sanitized version of ehr story.
If she fell in love with a different man instead of Bobby Brown, she may have got a different path in her life. She would still be alive today and have a happier family. Women have always this fascination with bad boys thinking they can change them with their love.
Whitney Houston. Such an awesome talent with such an awesomely sad life. She had doors of opportunity opened to her at such an early age. Even though she walked through the doors and embraced the opportunities, her love life was a train wreck. Even more sad was the fact that her daughter died soon after her death. I don’t think I want to watch a biopic about her.
