Universal promised us the first full trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on Thursday evening, and right as rain, it appeared. Fallen Kingdom will be the first Jurassic Park sequel to directly continue the story of a previous movie. Let’s see what they cook up….
Well, Pratt’s and Howard’s characters still aren’t together, because she’s talking about the person she’s dating and he’s very, very visibly jealous (she either doesn’t notice or doesn’t care — I’m guessing the latter). What brings them back to Jurassic World? It was built on a volcanic island, and the volcano is about to erupt, killing everything they worked so hard to clone and train. Plus Pratt’s old velociraptor friend, Blue, is still there! Gotta save her!
A common complaint about Jurassic trailers is that they tend to give away the whole movie in the trailer. I don’t think we can say that here — the vast majority of scenes displayed in these two and a half minutes belong to one particular scene: the eruption of the volcano. We can assume there will be more to the movie than just that, and that it can’t be the climactic scene because they wouldn’t be so stupid as to give it to us this early….
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens June 22.
