There’s a lot of Persona coming our way, suddenly. News leaked yesterday of two titles coming to consoles soon: a remake of Persona 3 and a Persona 5 spinoff game called Persona 5 Tactica. In the latter, you move stylized P5 characters on a grid, position them strategically, and attack with turn-based moves. It’s much like XCOM or those games where Mario meets the Rabbids.
But there will also be reading material: UDON Entertainment has announced they’ll be publishing the English version of an anthology manga based on Persona 5. They call it Persona 5: Comic à la Carte, and as its name implies, you get a mix of content: short stories, long stories, and one-off gags from over a dozen contemporary manga writers and artists.
The book will feature stories by Yuztan (Dragon’s Crown manga), Kyosuke Suga (Danganronpa manga), Tachibananoneko, Ran, Ueno, Tsukito, Tokiwa, Kazuichi, Ryuuseee, 337, Miyasumi, Kyouichi, and Suga Toshio. According to Udon, “The stories range from playful to deadly, as the Phantom Thieves build their friendships on thrilling shopping dates, visiting back-alley doctors, tackling giant burger challenges, and even preparing their own recipes! Joker, Oracle, Skull, and the team will never be the same!”
UDON has provided a six-page preview of Persona 5: Comic à la Carte below. Between these upcoming products and the recent re-releases of Personas 4 and 5, it feels like a fruitful time to be into the franchise…unless what you want is Persona 6. Where is it anyway?
