The Flash

“Trial Of The Flash” Gets Synopsis

For the first three seasons of The Flash, Barry Allen has had to fight for his title of “Fastest Man Alive”, as he’s faced three speedsters from various timestreams and worlds. But, with Season 04, the team took a very different approach. Instead of another speedster, they put him against a literal genius named The Thinker. Clifford Duvoe was so smart that he was able to outthink Barry at every turn, and then, in the midseason finale, trick him into going to a crime scene where Duvoe’s discarded body (long story) now laid, framing Barry for murder.

This is a callback to a legendary Flash arc called “Trial Of The Flash”, and in the midseason premiere, everything comes to a head as Barry is literally put on trial. The synopsis for the episode has been given:

“BARRY FIGHTS FOR HIS LIFE, As Barry’s (Grant Gustin) trial for the murder of Clifford DeVoe begins, Iris (Candice Patton) and Joe (Jesse L. Martin) must decide how far they are willing to go to keep Barry out of prison.”

It’s an intriguing dynamic, and the fact that Duvoe is not dead, just in a new body (again, long story) makes things even more intense. How will it all play out? We’ll find out when The Flash returns on January 16th.
