Transformers: The Last Knight Set for 2017 Release
Paramount Pictures has officially unveiled what will be the fifth live-action Transformers movie. The new sequel will be called Transformers: The Last Knight. The studio revealed a logo teaser earlier today on the Transformers Movie Instagram account, which you can check out at this link.
The logo teaser features an image of Optimus Prime’s somewhat weathered and battle-damaged mug. The caption reads, “Calling all #Autobots: Optimus Prime is ready for battle. Are you? #transformers.” It’s unknown who the Last Knight could be referring to.
Few details are currently known about the next Transformers sequel. Director Michael Bay, who has helmed all of the four previous movies, is attached to once again direct the fifth film in the franchise. Mark Wahlberg, Isabela Moner and Jerrod Carmichael will all star in the film, with production slated to start later this June. Hasbro is hoping to launch a shared film universe that would possibly involve Transformers, but if they are able to make that happen is anyone’s guess. Hasbro has a lot of interesting properties, and there have been some crossover stories between GI Joe and Transformers before in the comics. However, it’s not as established as say the Marvel 616 universe.
Transformers: The Last Knight arrives in theaters on June 23, 2017.
