Transformers: Hot Rod Will be in Last Knight
Another classic Transformers Generation 1 character is set to appear in the next live-action movie based on the franchise, Transformers: The Last Knight. The reveal for Hot Rod was made on the film’s social media pages. You can also check out the Hot Rod image that was revealed below.
The image features what appears to be Hot Rod concept art. His history labels him as a brother-in-arms to Bumblebee. His personality is described as “brash, slightly arrogant, protector.” His design definitely looks in line with previous Transformers movie character designs. However, it still looks downright unrecognizable in comparison to the iconic, classic characters. The look of the robots in the films have never been all that aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, his color scheme has been completely changed as well, to a dark black with some red trim.
That being said, it is pretty cool to see a classic Transformers character like Hot Rod return to the franchise through the film series. In the past, it seemed that Hasbro was avoiding using the name Hot Rod for the character, instead opting for names like Hot Rodimus. But that appears to no longer be the case here.
At the end of the day, it’s still a Michael Bay Transformers movie. What can you do? The new sequel stars Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Laura Haddock, Santiago Cabrera and Anthony Hopkins. Transformers: The Last Knight is due out in theaters on June 23, 2017.
