There Was Nothing Really “Mini” About This Nintendo Direct Mini
If this is the size of a Nintendo Direct Mini now, I don’t know how big the Nintendo Direct Maxi must be. The presentation went on for nearly a half-hour and introduced a new third-party title every minute. As we always do, we’re going to conveniently list them in order of release date….but the hugest announcement we’re going to keep off the list and talk about now: PERSONAS THREE THROUGH FIVE ARE CONFIRMED FOR SWITCH. We’ve been begging for this for a LONG time, and the begging only got louder when Joker became a playable character in Smash Bros despite having no presence on Nintendo consoles.
With the same games also confirmed for XBox and PC, it seems the era of Sony exclusivity for Atlus’ hit series is truly over. We really just wanted the Switch versions, though. The release date is the same as everyplace else: Persona 5 Royal on October 21, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden sometime later.
Portal Companion Collection — today
We knew it was coming, we just didn’t know when. A surprise release caught us off guard. It’s a busy week and we don’t have much time to think with portals, but at least we know the option is there.
Little Noah: Scion of Paradise — today
Live A Live — July 22
This date had already been announced, but what’s cool is that Square released a demo TODAY, and your progress will carry over into the full game.
Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions — July 28
RPG Time: The Legend Of Wright — August 18
This game takes place entirely on a piece of paper and the graphics are hand-drawn to match. It looks cool.
Pac-Man World Re-Pac — August 26
As happy as we are to have this game reborn, we’re dreading the censoring of Ms. Pac-Man that will inevitably happen somewhere in it.
Disney Dreamlight Valley — September 6
The next Kingdom Hearts won’t be for a while and Disney Infinity is dead. You wanna act out your Buzz Lightyear and Elsa shipping fanfics, this is your only way.
Nier Automata: Game Of The Yorha Edition — October 6
One of the best games of last gen gets its turn on the Switch at last.
No Man’s Sky — October 7
Everyone’s been wondering how Hello Games will squeeze that entire universe onto the Switch. Hopefully the graphics and framerate won’t take too much of a hit.
A Plague Tale: Requiem — October 18
Don’t get too excited….this is a “cloud” version. It’ll stop working long before your non-cloud Switch games do.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope == October 20
We’ll learn more about this game tomorrow from a special Ubisoft livestream. 9 AM Pacific on YouTube and Twitch!
Harvestella — November 4
It’s a Square Enix take on Story Of Seasons…only one of the seasons literally means death so your main goal is to prepare for it.
Railgrade — Fall 2022
Dragon Quest Treasure — December 9
Sonic Frontiers — Holiday 2022
Doraemon Story Of Seasons — 2022
Return To Monkey Island — 2022
This is the one Ron Gilbert is personally directing.
Blanc — February 2023
Another “paper graphics” type game, but this one is in full 3D and looks even better.
Minecraft Legends — 2023
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection — 2023
Ten games are in this sucker!
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes — 2023
Super Bomberman R 2 — 2023
