Soilpunk Sim ‘The Regreening’ to Restore Nature on PC

A deserted world is calling out to be restored in this upcoming game. Introducing a soilpunk sim about restoring nature, The Regreening, coming to Steam!

Developed by the indie team Positive Impact Games, The Regreening is a simulator about bringing back nature to a ruined world. Despite being a debut game, many of the individuals in the team are veterans of the gaming industry. The devs have worked on games like Path of Exile and Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord.

The game takes a lot of inspiration the visual style of Soilpunk. The style is based around flora and nature working in harmony with technology in a symbiotic relationship. Soilpunk emphasizes the feeling of hope, of a better tomorrow where two differing worlds of machines and life work in tandem.

I love 3D platformers, so any chance to revisit Yooka-Laylee with better mechanics is welcome! The improved move set is what excites me the most. The original had some clunky movement, and if they smooth that out, this could be a hidden gem. Plus, a proper world map? Thank you! Developers need to understand that wandering around aimlessly is not fun. If they truly refine the core experience, I’ll be there on day one.

This is exactly what I was hoping for! The original game had a colorful, fun aesthetic, but it always felt like it needed an extra level of polish. A full 4K graphical upgrade with reworked animations should make a massive difference. I hope they also add dynamic lighting and more detailed environments. Platformers deserve the same visual love as any AAA game. If this looks as good as they say, I’ll gladly replay it.

Grant Kirkhope and David Wise are back with an orchestral version of the soundtrack? That alone makes this worth picking up. Their original compositions were great, but hearing them with a full orchestra could elevate the entire experience. Music is such an important part of platformers, and when done right, it can make the gameplay feel even more magical. I just hope they give us an option to switch between the old and new versions.
