Cinephobia Releasing has announced they’re bringing the Italian horror flick The Goldsmith to the US, publishing it on DVD and VOD platforms this fall.
Stefano, Roberto and Arianna are three professional burglars who spot what seems to be their easiest mark yet: the home of an elderly couple who had a career in jewelry making. Figuring they must have a lot of raw materials and valuables stashed away — or possibly out in the open — they break in. But if you’re worried for the couple, don’t be.
It’s the criminals who need to be afraid, as this pair proves not only effective at taking the burglars out, but they turn out to be worse than they are! They’ve now imprisoned the three crooks in their secret room, where they’re preparing to perform deranged, torturous experiments on them! They thought they’d be rich, but they’ll be lucky if they can escape with their lives.
The Goldsmith stars veteran Italian actor Giuseppe Pambieri and Stefania Casini (Suspiria), and was directed by Vincenzo Ricchiut. It’s had a successful film festival tour, where it’s won Best Screenplay at Grimmfest 2022, Best Special Effects and Best Make-up at Screamfest 2022, Best Sound Design at Santiago Horror Film Festival, and others. It will be released to DVD and VOD October 3.
THE GOLDSMITH follows childhood friends and now adult criminals, Stefano, Roberto and Arianna as they concoct a simple plan: break into an elderly couple’s home and find the valuables in the old man’s hidden jewelry workshop. But not this night and not this house, as the doddering couple prove to be not nearly as helpless as they may seem. Underneath those wrinkles and elderly facades are two totally deranged killers, intent on greeting their new houseguests in their own way. The thieves soon find themselves locked in a soundproof room, about to become guinea pigs for the couples mad experiments. They broke in, but can they survive long enough to break out?
