The Batman Part II Delayed Yet Again

We should all thank James Gunn and Peter Safran for not shutting down Matt Reeves’ sequel to The Batman just because his Batman won’t be the same as the one in the expanding Gunnverse. Reeves’ Batman films are different than what’s come before…they’re more cerebral, focusing on Wayne’s skills as a detective. However, Reeves won’t let his Batman out until it’s absolutely perfect. Case in point: another delay to The Batman Part II was announced today, and this marks the FOURTH one.

Reportedly, the previous delays were due to script refinements. If the original schedule had held up, we would have the movie already. It was first announced for October 2025. Then it was moved to October 2026, then October 2027. Can you guess when it’s supposed to premiere NOW?

Nope, you’re wrong….the new date is February 18, 2028. Thank goodness it wasn’t another entire year. But Reeves uploaded this nifty little teaser to suggest that, maybe this time, he’ll be able to stick to the date. A camera test means they’ve begun filming!

The delay of The Batman Part II has resulted in another WB movie getting bumped, JJ Abrams’ The Great Beyond. That one isn’t suffering any delays of its own and in fact was ready to go in November of this year, but has now been shifted to October 2027, The Batman‘s old place, because they evidently didn’t have anything else.

The Batman Part II is expected to star the same cast as the first: Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Scarlett Johansson, and Sebastian Stan. It should be out in February of ’28….we hope.
