Superman, A first look to David Corenswet’s debut

The new Superman reboot looks incredibly promising. It feels like the people behind this project are real comic book fans. The trailer kicks off with a gripping scene where Superman is bleeding and lying in the snow, suggesting he might have encountered an enemy too powerful for him. Given that this movie focuses on a younger Clark Kent, it seems he’s not yet experienced as a fighter. We get flashbacks to his life with his adopted father, Jonathan Kent, in Smallville, which show how outcast he feels in the office.
In this low moment, Superman tries to whistle, and here comes his dog, Krypto. Typically, Krypto has been depicted as a generic big white dog in past movies, cartoons, and comics, often resembling a white Labrador, a white Shepherd, or even a spotless Dalmatian. However, in this movie, Krypto appears to be either a white Schnauzer or a Cairn Terrier, offering a fresh take on the character.

The trailer then transitions into a montage of Superman’s heroics, showcasing his acts of bravery and kindness. However, there’s a darker side as well; Lex Luthor is seen imprisoning Superman in a glass cage. A poignant moment shows a child praying for Superman to come and save him from danger, highlighting the hero’s importance to the public. But not everyone trusts Superman; there’s a scene where people throw objects at him, illustrating the public’s mistrust or fear of his powers. We get glimpses of his romance with Lois Lane, portrayed by Rachel Brosnahan, who looks significantly older than David Corenswet’s Clark, fitting since she’s an established journalist when she meets Clark, who is new to the business.

The trailer also offers cameos from Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific, expanding the universe of characters around Superman. One of the villains appears to be equipped with a magical ring, using its beam to challenge Superman. David Corenswet playing Clark Kent is a great choice. He’s got a different hairstyle for Clark compared to Superman, and that’s a big deal for me. In past movies, Clark and Superman looked too similar, which always broke my immersion because the whole “glasses as a disguise” thing just didn’t work. But now, they actually look like two different people, which makes the whole secret identity thing believable again.

The trailer’s background music is a slow rock cover of the theme from the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, giving me a strong sense of nostalgia. Nicolas Houltt, who was in the running to play Superman, ended up with the role of Lex Luthor instead. He already seems like a much better fit for Lex than Jesse Eisenberg was.

Overall, this trailer shows that this movie isn’t afraid to be a true Superman film, and that’s exciting.

An isekai anime getting a full theatrical release? Now that's something I haven't seen before. I'm not familiar with Overlord, but the whole "Sorcerer King vs. Demon Emperor" premise sounds pretty badass. Might have to check out the series before the movie comes out. I wonder if the animation will be different for the big screen?

Overlord movie tickets are on sale already? Dang, gotta check the prices before I commit. Seeing it in theaters would be awesome, but maybe I can wait and catch it on streaming later. Unless the visuals are absolutely mind-blowing, I might just stick to the small screen for this one.

Hold on, are they finally releasing a real Overlord movie? Not one of those recap things? Gotta see this! Been following the series since the beginning and I'm curious to see where they take the story next. Wonder if this movie will introduce any new characters or delve deeper into the lore of the world? Definitely gotta rewatch the earlier seasons to refresh my memory before November 8th.
