Sumo Digital Now Developers Of Dead Island 2
The tale of Dead Island 2 is an interesting one, as it was announced at E3 to a very well received trailer. But then publisher Koch Media decided to separate with the sequels developer, Yager, to make “the sequel Dead Island fans deserve”. No word had come out since then. Until now.
Sumo Digital, the team behind Little Big Planet 3, and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, has now been revealed to be the new developers of Dead Island 2. In an interview with MCV, Koch Media’s CEO, Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, said: “Sumo showed so much understanding of the brand, had creative ideas and an excellent, vision that was aligned with our own.
“It just made perfect sense for us to move the project to them. We will reveal more details at a later stage, but for now I’d like to say that we are obviously super excited about the progress that we are making with them.”
“It’s an honour to be charged with the evolution of such an important franchise in Deep Silver’s catalogue,” added Sumo COO Paul Porter. “We’re looking forward to exceeding fan expectation with an ambitious design that we’re confident will take bone-crunching, visceral, zombie action to a whole new level.”
No word yet on when we can expect Dead Island 2 to release.
