Steamforged Games Announces Dark Souls RPG

If the Dark Souls series is tough enough as a video game, imagine it as a tabletop RPG. That’s what Steamforged Games has promised to bring to life in the spring of 2024. The Dark Souls Roleplaying Game is on the way and preorders were made open today.

All you need to start your grueling adventure is contained in the Tome of Journeys, the core rulebook that will cost around $30. “Within these whispering pages, you’ll find a wealth of new material to further flesh out your RPG campaigns. From classic DARK SOULS locations, to new equipment and weaponry, plus two complete adventures ready to slot into your games. Not to mention secret tips and advice for Game Masters, to help you run sessions that will keep players coming back to the bonfire for more!”

Steamforged also plans to release a custom set of Dark Souls themed “Cursed Dice” on the same day. “The perfect companion, the official DARK SOULS: The Roleplaying Game Cursed Dice are sure to see you through the most dangerous encounters… so long as you don’t roll poorly.” The dice can be preordered on this page.

If that’s not enough, consider the Ultimate Bundle, which throws in a book of additional content, The Tome Of Strange Beings, plus a GM screen and the Cursed Dice. It doesn’t come cheap, but preordering will reduce the price by 25%.

The Dark Souls Roleplaying Game will arrive March 29, 2024.

I'm excited about this Dark Souls RPG news! With my gaming group, I can't wait to delve into the Tome of Journeys and spin grand tales of hope and sorrow. And the Dice with a Curse? I'm in! The day of March 29, 2024, is drawing near! Steamforged Games made an interesting move, but I've been burnt by licensed role-playing games before. Until I see any gameplay mechanics, I will control my expectations. Thoughtful concept aside, execution is crucial. Does anyone else have doubts about this?

The Dark Souls RPG caught my interest, but my gaming budget is limited. The core rulebook is $30, which looks reasonable, but the Ultimate Bundle may be too much for me. Are there any additional low-cost solutions for those who want to dabble in this tabletop adventure?

Cursed Dice? Shut up and take my souls! I've preordered the dice already, but I'm wondering if anyone else out there has a dice collection like me. This might be the perfect addition to the shelf. How many dice sets do you all own?
