Star Wars Battlefront Sequel Could Arrive in 2017
It looks like the next installment of the Star Wars Battlefront franchise could be out before the end of 2017. According to a report by GamesRadar, the planned game sequel will be out by fall 2017. The news was revealed by EA Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen during a recent conference call with financial analysts.
During the call, Jorgensen said the game would arrive “a year from now” in time for the holiday season. He also added, “We’re working very hard on making sure that it’s an extremely deep and engaging offering.”
This would put the time frame for the Star Wars Battlefront release in line with Star Wars: Episode VIII, the next installment of the current Star Wars sequel trilogy. The first battlefront came out just before the release of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. So it makes sense that EA wants to time the game releases to go with the movie releases. Episode VIII is scheduled for a mid December release, so one imagines that Battlefront II will come out about a month before like its predecessor.
However, hopefully the gameplay will be more refined and inclusive for the Battlefront sequel. This means the second game should have space battles and also even a single-player campaign at launch.
Star Wars Battlefront is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
