Star Wars Battlefront Beta Set to Launch October 8
Electronic Arts and DICE have announced that the Star Wars Battlefront Beta is set to launch next month on October 8. The beta will run through October 12 and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and on Windows PC via Origin. The beta will work as a technical test for the game and offer players a small taste for what is to come ahead of the game’s official launch in November.
Besides the beta version, players will also have the opportunity to try the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience, which will be available at StarWarsBattlefront.com. The Companion experience will feature the strategic card game Base Command and will enable players to earn in-game Credits in order to unlock Star Cards, weapons and more in the actual game.
The best news is that if you would like to play the beta, you do not even need to register. The Star Wars Battlefront Beta will be open to all PS4, Xbox One and Origin/PC players. So there is no registration necessary. The beta will be available in the PSN Store for PS4 players and in the Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox One players. For Origin for PC, gamers can find the beta under the Demo & Betas section of the Origin Store.
Here are the details on the following gameplay modes that will be available to play for the beta version:
- Walker Assault on Hoth: “Fight in epic 40-player battles as a Rebel to destroy the Empire’s onslaught of AT-AT’s by calling in Y-wing bombers. Or, side with the Empire and protect your walkers while utilizing their mighty weaponry to crush the Rebel objective.”
- Drop Zone on Sullust: “Escape pods are crashing down and you and your team must fight to control them. With its frantic 8v8 matches, Drop Zone is sure to put your combat and strategy skills to the test.”
- Survival Mission on Tatooine: “Play alone or with a friend via co-op or split-screen as you battle to hold off waves of Imperial forces including AT-ST’s, TIE fighters, elite stormtroopers and more.”
In terms of download size, the beta will come out to around 7 gigabytes for PS4 and Xbox One. On Origin for PC, the download will be close to about 11 gigabytes. Players will have the opportunity to pre-load the Beta on Origin for PC starting at 1am PT/10am CET on Wednesday, October 7. The Beta level cap will go up to level five. Once that level is hit, you cannot progress to higher levels, but there will still be access to unlock other items.
The game will receive its official launch on November 17. Star Wars Battlefront will hit the shelves on that date for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
