Spy Kids: Armageddon, A reboot Nobody asked for

-

Spy Kids: Armageddon is a reboot of the the Spy Kids Franchise. Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara, the original Spy Kids are too old to continue reprising their roles. Both are now on their 30s and Both of them have spouses and children now. Alexa is now married to Sean Covel while Daryl Sabara, is married to Meghan Trainor.

They could do what Netflix did with The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D where the leads return as adults.  But Netflix decided to make a reboot instead and go back to the beginning. Connor Estersonand Everly Carganilla will now be the titular siblings.

Zachary Levi and Gina Rodriguez  will not play the roles originally portrayed by Antonio Banderas  and Carla Gugino. Robert Rodriguez who directed the original is so proud that his son Racer Max wrote the script of this reboot. I feel a bit sad about Zachary Levi, If Shazam: Fury of the Gods was success, he wont be doing this movie. Failure of Black Adam, had a domino effect to recent DC movies.

The reaction the teaser trailer by far has been mostly negative.  Some fans of the original thinks this reboot looks like a downgrade. Probably people with nostalgia goggles.

Spy Kids: Armageddon official Trailer

The storyline of this reboot shares striking resemblances with its original counterpart.

In this reboot, the secret agents’ offspring unwittingly aid a game developer, unleashing a computer virus. The virus grants him control over technology, risking the world. The brave youths must become spies, saving their parents and the world. Despite their lack of prior experience or formal training, the young protagonists are not left to their own devices. Instead, they are equipped with a plethora of extraordinary gadgets, specially tailored to empower them in their mission to thwart the nefarious plans of the malevolent developer.

Spy Kids: Armageddon is coming to Netflix this  September 23.
