Sony To Launch Project Morpheus Before June 2016?
When it comes to technology, there’s always a race to get the newest piece of “life-changing” tech out first. TV’s, video games and their consoles, the person who can get it out first, and hopefully do it right the first time, gets a LOT of momentum.
In the world of Virtual Reality headsets, there are two main competitors going for that crown, Oculus and their Rift, and then Sony with their Project Morpheus. And if the Japanese newspaper Asahi is right, they’ll be launching their VR headset before June next year.
This is fascinating on numerous levels, not the least of which is because of the timing. And by timing, I mean E3. By the time the Electronic Entertainment Expo arrives, it’ll be June, so thus if the report is accurate, we could be less than a year away from release. What this means, is that Sony would be very inclined to not only show off what Project Morpheus can do on a larger scale, they could unveil new details about it, and what it may cost for us to get it.
Furthermore, Sony has already admitted that several gaming companies were working on titles for Project Morpheus. Might we find out what they are? Either way, if this is true, and if they get it out before Oculus, things will be getting interesting very quickly.
