Simu Liu made this tweet back in 2014, during those times, He was a struggling actor and a Stock Photo model. Who would have thought that this unknown actor will be a lead actor at the MCU. This Tweet was made before he get to play Jung in Kim’s Convenience. He also was also a support character in the Taken TV series.

The desexualization of Asian men in Hollywood had been a problem for a century. Asian American men had struggled to have a date because of how Western media stereotyped them. Keanu Reeves who is of Chinese descent have to pass as white to become a lead actor in Hollywood. Most roles Asian men get in Hollywood movies are either Asexual Nerds or Asexual Martial artists. Hollywood was so discriminatory to Asian men that Son Goku, Johnny Rico and Keiji Kiriya are all played by White men in movie adaptations.
This video explains why this problematic culture in Hollywood existed.
Simu Liu also got discriminated against by Chinese people themselves. The Chinese social media had been mean to him ever since his announcement because doesn’t have the look most Chinese cinema leads look like. The Chinese Audience had a different standard of beauty. He responded to all the hate with class.
The Anti-woke influencers also attacked Shang-Chi telling people it will flop in the box office.
Their videos didn’t age well because as of the writing of this article, Shang-chi made $146,200,000 worldwide. It Made $90 Million domestically in the US alone. Success is the best revenge and seeing an underdog getting all this victory feels good.
Simu Liu used one of his pictures as a stock photo model as a response to all the people who said his movie will fail.
