SHIVER Coming From Junji Ito

Horror manga fans know the artists in Japan can come up with some truly creepy stories. And no one dreams up material more frightening than Junji Ito, creator of macabre classics like TOMIE and UZUMAKI (both of which were turned into horror movies in Japan). Now Ito  has a new collection of translated works coming from VIZ Media: SHIVER.

An arm peppered with tiny holes dangles from a sick girl’s window… After an idol hangs herself, balloons bearing the faces of their destined victims appear in the sky… An amateur film crew hires an extremely individualistic fashion model and faces a real bloody ending… SHIVER offers nine fresh nightmares for the delectation of horror fans.

“Junji Ito has redefined the horror genre with his unique stories, which are equally chilling and surreal,” says Masumi Washington, editor at Viz. “SHIVER will thrill fans already familiar with Junji Ito and also introduce new readers to this renowned creator’s work.”

SHIVER is a new collection of Junji Ito’s best short stories, as selected by Ito himself and accompanied by notes and commentary. It’ll be haunting bookstores starting December 19, sporting a ‘T+’ for Older Teens rating and a price tag of $22.99.
