At San Diego Comic Con, a special panel was held for Geoff Johns, one the most legendary writers and creators at DC Comics today. Johns is set to make an even bigger impact on the comics universe with the upcoming event known as the Doomsday Clock. This book will pit two of the most powerful beings in two universes against each other: Superman, and Doctor Manhattan.
Right off the bat, Johns confirmed definitively that this is Doctor Manhattan messing with the DC Comics universe. Even going so far as to say that it couldn’t be anyone else but him. He also notes that he was nervous about doing such a story, for he doesn’t want the Watchmen to be in DC Comics universe and feel like a “gimmick”, which is what many feared early on.
Not many more details were given, however, it was confirmed that this would be a 12 issue series, and it would take place one year ahead of all the other DC Comics books. As the mini-event series winds down, the rest of the universe will catch up to it.
Some images were also show, one even featured the “Who Watches The Watchmen?” tagline from the original book. Also, it’s been hinted that Lex Luthor is going to meet Ozymandias.
Doomsday Clock #1 arrives in November.
