Director James Wan is very excited to be directing Aquaman, the first big screen adaptation of DC’s king of Atlantis. The first clip of actor Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry was unveiled today in the Justice League sizzle reel, with his debut film arriving in 2018.
For Wan though, he wants it to be more than just action, he wants to show the darkness that’s within the ocean:
“I love the fact that [Aquaman’s] never really been portrayed in the feature movie world before,” Wan said during the Warner Bros. SDCC panel, adding that he’s excited to have “the opportunity to explore this universe and bring a bit of my horror element into this, the deep sea, the scary world, and then also explore the wondrous world of Atlantis.”
