Rock Band 4 Receiving More Difficult Brutal Mode
Harmonix Music Systems officially announced this week that the December Feature Update for Rock Band 4 will feature a band new and challenging mode for expert players, Brutal Mode. The new gameplay mode will release with tomorrow’s update on Tuesday, December 8.
Brutal Mode will be available to expert players in its own area off the Main Menu. The mode will put the most hardcore players to the test in the game. It will be available for solo or multiplayer gameplay. Brutal Mode modifies the note track to react to how well you are playing, The better you play, the harder it will get. Players who master this mode will get a new Star threshold beyond Gold called the Crimson Star.
Three new metal tracks were also announced for the update that will be available at the Rock Band Music Store for Xbox one and PlayStation 4. The tracks will also be available starting tomorrow (Dec. 8) to coincide with the December Update. The tracks can be purchased individually for $1.99, and they include Between the Buried and Me’s “The Coma Machine,” Opeth’s “Heir Apparent,” and Symphony X’s “Nevermore.”
To go along with the new Brutal Mode, Harmonix is starting a national Brutal Mode Battle in the US that will run from December 8 to December 19. Finalists will be flown out to Boston for a live streamed final event where they will battle for major prizes, including a custom-skinned Rock Band 4 console of choice, a PAX East Penny Arcade Rock Band 4 guitar, and an entire year’s worth of Rock Band 4 DLC, courtesy of Harmonix.
