Fans have been eagerly waiting any and all news about Daredevil Season 2, not the least which reason is because of the inclusion of The Punisher this season, to be played by Jon Bernthal. Daredevil and The Punisher have a long history in the comics, mainly ending in the two fighting, as they have very different versions of justice, and how to obtain it.
The picture above is very similar to a scene from a comic they both were in. Garth Ennis’ run of The Punisher, Daredevil was caught by Punisher, tied up, and then was forced to choose whether to let Punisher kill a man, or kill Punisher in order to save the man.
“Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we’re also going to force people — the way we force Matt — to second-guess themselves,” showrunner Doug Petrie tells EW. “Taking lethal justice into your own hands is in America in 2015 is tricky s—t. We have not shied away from the rich complicated reality of Now. If you’ve got a gun and you’re not the police you’re going to incite strong feelings. We’re stirring the pot and we’re aware of the headlines where we live and we’re trying to get people to think.”
Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 is slated to premiere on Netflix in 2016. All 13 episodes of Season 2 will be available to stream at launch.
