Disney is taking us back to the North Pole with their latest Christmas TV special, โPrep & Landing: The Snowball Protocolโ. The movie is bound to create new holiday traditions when it airs on Thanksgiving. But we can start the festivities early with its recently released musical single, โWhere Would We Be Without Mageeโ.
Please keep reading to learn about the movie and single, including where to find them.
Disney Released a Song from the Upcoming Prep & Landing Special
The *Prep & Landing* series of Christmas specials has brought humor, heart, and holiday magic since its debut in 2009. The series follows the exploits of a high-tech team of elves, who readies every home for Santa Clausโs arrival.
The award-winning series continues to draw millions of viewers every year. Despite its success, the franchise has gone without an update since Disney released โNaughty vs. Niceโ in 2011. However, that will change this Thanksgiving when Disney drops the fourth installment, โPrep & Landing: The Snowball Protocolโ.
In the new special, Prep & Landingโs mission goes awry, putting them in โBIG troubleโ with Santa. Now, they must save Christmas and clear their names at the same time. Along the way, they burst into songs depicting the season and their adventures.
To give us a head start, Walt Disney Records released one of these songs, โWhere Would We Be Without Magee?โ, early as a single
โPrep & Landingโ Single Has Music Video
Walt Disney released โWhere Would We Be Without Magee?โ on November 21, 2025. Because โThe Snowball Protocolโ is a musical, Sarah Chalke, Mageeโs voice actress, performed the track, which was written by the specialโs composer, Christopher Willis, along with Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson.
You will find the song on most digital music services for streaming or downloading, including Amazon and YouTube. However, Disney did more than release the song. They also released a music video for it. This video also serves as a sneak peek of the film,
You can watch the video below:
Review of the Song and Video
The music video starts with Magee getting a massage from someone we must presume is Renato, who quickly rocks Magee to sleep. As she dozes off, she begins to dream about her work as the factoryโs operations manager. The song serves as the dialogue for this dream.
From there, the minute-long song and video are a pure self-ego boost for the character. The lyrics constantly praise Magee despite the criticism woven into them.
For instance, the dream begins with a required employee report meeting that Magee scheduled for her subordinates. During this meeting, the employees praise Magee for it while she drinks coffee from a โbest bossโ mug.
The scene transitions to the employee at the cubicles still working even though it was closing time. All the while, they boast that they would never consider leaving their desks due to how great Magee is at her job.
Then, Magee answers a phone call from someone we must presume is one of her employees. We donโt get to hear the person on the line, but Mageeโs response is more self-praise, noting how perfect she is.
The dream ends with a synchronized swimming routine in a pool of coffee before revealing that Magee was sleeping on the massage bench.
Overall, itโs an interesting song about a corporate micromanager. As such, anyone can theoretically enjoy it. However, itโs a rather adult situation. I donโt know if the specialโs target audience, kids, would get what the song and its corresponding scene talk about.
Disneyโs Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol Special Releases on Thanksgiving
The Disney Channel will premiere โPrep & Landing: The Snowball Protocolโ this Thanksgiving, November 27, 2025. Directed by Shane Zalvin, the half-hour special brings back the old cast of characters, who will reprise their roles with a script by Hilary Heldin.
These roles include:
- Dave Foley as Wayne
- Derek Richardson as Lanny – Wayneโs partner
- Sarah Chalke as Magee โ Prep & Landingโs boss
- Manny Jacinto as Renato โ a massage therapist
- Dulcรฉ Sloan as Janice โ post office clerk
- Danny Pudi as Chef Geoff – Fruitcake Factoryโs master chef
- Christopher Swindle as Santa Claus – replacing the late W. Morgan Sheppard.
The original franchise creators, Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers-Skelton, also return as the specialโs producers.
โThe Snowball Protocolโ is the third half-hour special and the fifth short film in the โPrep & Landingโ franchise. Disney originally announced it back in 2011, during a promotional interview for the previous special. However, there have been no updates until the original creators announced the revival at the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
The Snowball Protocol Trailer
Since then, Disney has released a teaser trailer and key art for Nog, a seal pup who joins the elves on their adventures. They also released a full trailer last month. You will find this trailer below for your convenience.
All things considered, the trailer is pretty standard, presenting the special as more of an action film than traditional holiday fare. The special wouldnโt feel out of place next to say the โDie Hardโ or โMission: Impossibleโ movies.
When and Where You Can Watch the Special
Walt Disney will premiere โPrep & Landing: The Snowball Protocolโ on the Disney Channel this Thanksgiving, November 27, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. EST/PST. After that, you can stream the special on Disney+, starting the following day.
Disney will then encore the film on ABC on November 30 and on Freeform on December 13 as part of their โ25 Days of Christmasโ event. Disney+ is also streaming the previous specials:
- โPrep & Landingโ (2009)
- โPrep & Landing: Operation: Secret Santaโ (2010)
- โPrep & Landing: Naughty vs. Niceโ (2011)
Final Thoughts
The โPrep & Landingโ series offers an interesting take on the holiday musical, which the song โWhere Would We Be Without Magee?โ presents in vivid color. More than just a catchy tune, it reveals the film’s true nature without spoiling its bigger story. If you feel the same, feel free to talk about the special in the forums.
