Lee Ji-hyuk is at the heart of the story. He is successful in his career and has carved out a strong professional reputation.

In his personal life, he has a happy family and good friends. Who could ask for anything more? Uuhh … his parents. They want him to get married and nag him all the time. But he doesn’t want to get married. Other than that, he appears to have it all. But you know what they say about people who are at the top of the world? The only place they can go from there is down. Lee Ji-hyuk hits the lowest point of his life. Good thing he does have good friends. Not everyone in life is that fortunate.

Good Friend No. 1:

Ji Eun-oh, a warm-hearted café manager and interior designer whose optimism remains undimmed despite life’s hardships. She once nursed unrequited feelings for Ji-hyuk, and finally confessed to him. Lee Ji-hyuk couldn’t return her feelings even though she promised never to pressure him to get married. He simply said she didn’t suit him. Ji Eun-oh asked him how he could know since he’s never been in a relationship with her. He replied: “My heart is mine, so I have to control it.” Not the best answer, but she accepted it. Even though she was rejected, Ji Eun-oh remains in his orbit, both emotionally and practically.

Good Friend No. 2:

Park Sung-jae is a mutual friend and a third-generation chaebol heir who appears to have the perfect life, good looks, ability, and family. But he’s lonely and yearns for connection. He has deep affection for Ji-hyuk and his warm family, and is torn between friendship and unspoken love, as well as his own identity.

Ji Eun-oh is THE GLUE.  Her steadfast optimism acts as a counterbalance to Lee Ji-hyuk’s internal struggle and Park Sung-jae’s privileged but empty world. Their parents are supposed to be in their “golden years”. Is this trio of friends in their “golden days”?

“Our Golden Days” follows an earlier hit weekend drama, “My Golden Life” (2017), and can be considered something of a spiritual “successor” or reunion rather than an adaptation. (Per KPOPPOST) Overall, this Korean drama offers a multi-generational tapestry of lives in flux, comfortable on the surface, yet rich in inner conflict, and invites viewers to reflect on when and where their own “golden days” lie.

Do you like wholesome, corny, and cheesy K-dramas that the entire family can watch? Then you’ll like this K-drama.
