Oh No, The Tick Has Been Spooned By Amazon
We really wish we didn’t have to report this, but Jeff Bezos just did another horrible thing and cancelled Amazon Video’s The Tick after just two seasons.
Ben Edlund, creator of the character and head of most TV shows called “The Tick” (including this one) broke the devastating news to the world today.
I'm sorry to say Amazon has chosen not to proceed with @TheTickTV I'm not sorry to say I love this show, its cast, its story, and its message. Destiny demands that my compatriots and I now seek a new home for this series.

Meanwhile thank u from my heart's bottom to all the fans who've shared their love with us and the show. Thank you sweet #LunaTicks and #LunaTickArmy for your militant affection 🙂 We want to find a place to make more. That is the mission now and we are on it.

This does imply that Ben has the option to shop the show around to other buyers. It’s our only hope at this point.
To say this wonderful show has been mistreated by its maker would be an understatement. One year elapsed between the release of The Tick’s pilot and the first half of its first season….then fans had to wait ANOTHER year for the second half of that season to appear (and this was a short season, so we’re talking about five episodes apiece). Amazon seemed to be learning from their mistakes when they dropped the entirety of Season Two at once, but….nope.
The bigger question is….what does Amazon even have at this point that’s buzzworthy in any way, aside from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel? The Tick at least had name recognition and a devoted fanbase. Most of Amazon’s nameless shows are just kinda…..there.
If the big blue bug of justice can find a new place to shine, we’ll let you know.
