NYCC: Adam West Gives Advice To Future Batmen
Adam West was one of the first live-action versions of Batman. In fact, his version was part of the very popular, and now classic, Batman ’66. A series so popular that it’s gotten it’s own digital comic in the DC Comics line. At NYCC, Adam West was there to talk about his upcoming return to the cowl, and decided to give some advice for future Batmen.
“The new movies… Batman is full vengeance and deep-seeded angst and so on. They’re very dark. My Batman was just funny. I try to make it funny and fun, I’m the happy Batman, for god’s sakes!”
“Enough violence. And let costume work for you. And put a little humor in it! I think it’s about time to relieve that unrelenting kind of attitude of vengeance. I can’t take it anymore! I’m going home and I’m going to suck my thumb!”
Obviously he was joking about that last part, but he’s always been very passionate about the role. We’ll have to see if any follow the legends advice.
