Flash War

NYCC 2017: Flash War Is Coming

The next year or so is going to be very interesting for DC Comics. The mega-event Metal is already underway, and the DC/Watchmen storyline is starting in November via the Doomsday Clock. And through those events, other key things are going to happen. For example, a Flash War is going to be coming, as revealed during a panel at New York Comic Con.

Now, unlike Metal and Doomsday Clock, this “war” will only be two issues, but it’ll answer a key fan question, “Who deserves to be the Flash?” And according to the writer for the book, this storyline will answer that:

“Let’s see who’s the best Flash,” Josh Williamson said, teasing the storyline’s premise. “That’s one of the ramifications that comes out of Metal… We have ‘Flash War’ coming out.”

It’s an interesting question. As Barry Allen was the first “modern” Flash, yet, after his death in Crisis on Infinite Earths (in which he ran himself to death in order to save the multiverse), Wally West stepped up and was The Flash until Geoff Johns brought back Barry in Flash Rebirth. Because of that decade long absence, many fans grew to love Wally West more than Barry, though Barry won back fans after his return and is the character shown in both the Flash TV show and the DCEU.

So, who will win? Guess you’ll find out when the Flash Annual #1 and Flash #46 arrive next year.
