“Nothing Uncovered” is a 2024 Korean drama series, streaming on Viki, with 16 episodes, and categorized as a Crime and Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, and Melodrama. It is based on the web novel “Grabbed by the Collar”.
♦ Uncovering Misdeeds is a Righteous Job Until It Gets Personal
In “Nothing Uncovered”, Seo Jung-Won is an ace reporter/journalist making a name for herself by uncovering the misdeeds of others. She caught a politician and a fellow reporter in cahoots and exposed them to the world. She concluded her televised report with these words: “A journalist’s conscience shows in their article, and a politician’s conscience shows in their actions.”
She did an excellent job exposing the collusion between the reporter and the politician. But in doing so, she made enemies of both of them. But hey! That comes with the job. Right? To Seo Jung-Won that’s all the more reason to become even more fearless in her endeavors. It looks like Seo Jung-Won’s career ambitions are being fully realized and she’s on her way up the ladder of success.
Can life get any better? Sure! Her married life is also wonderful! Her husband, Seol Woo-Jae, defied his father to marry her, and anyone looking at the two of them would believe their marriage was made in heaven. Seol Woo-Jae has written several novels, but at the moment he appears to be suffering from writer’s block and is in a slump.
Seo Jung-Won is so wrapped up in her work that she does not notice that her husband is suffering from depression. At least, that’s what he told her. But that’s because he did such a good job of covering it up. When he is around her, he is all smiles and very loving. Why would she suspect him of anything? There were no signs in their relationship that pointed to illness or … infidelity.
Infidelity? Don’t be ridiculous. And yet, a woman confronted Seo Jung-Won, telling her about her husband’s affair with her and that she’s pregnant with her husband’s child. On the surface, Seo Jung-Won was as a cool as cucumber. She behaved defiantly in front of the young woman and scoffed at her:
- Pregnant for my husband? As if! Did she expect Seo Jung-Won to divorce her husband because of that wild and crazy story with no proof of adultery?
Unfortunately, the celebrity died before anything else happened. Seo Jung-Won discovered the celebrity’s corpse but she was too terrified to notify the police. Or was it that she was too terrified that there might be a relationship between her husband and the dead woman? Now that it’s personal, is this something she wants uncovered?
The celebrity had been murdered. Is it possible Seo Jung-Won’s husband killed her to cover up the affair? A month before that someone had sent Seo Jung-Won a text message telling her that she needed to “uncover” her husband’s deception.
Once she gathered her composure Seo Jung-Won confronted her husband. Her husband reacted with shock and confusion. He said that woman had approached him over a year ago but he did not have anything to do with her. It was just that one time he met her. There was certainly no affair that resulted.
Seo Jung-Won wants to believe her husband. But the seeds of doubt and suspicion were already planted by that woman.
- Was it the truth or the malicious lies of an enemy?
- Or was the woman one of those psycho-stalkers who imagine they are in relationships that don’t exist?
- There was a rumor that the celebrity was sponsored by the politician Seo Jung-Won had exposed. Was that a coincidence or a connection?
Now that the matter is personal does she want to uncover her husband and expose him?
♦ Investigating and Uncovering Crime is a Detective’s Job
Meanwhile, Detective Kim Tae-Heon is investigating this case. There are similarities between the celebrity murder and another murder case. The other victim worked as a housekeeper for the politician that Seo Jung-Won had exposed in her TV show.
Evidence gathered so far indicated the young woman had been murdered in the same manner as the housekeeper. In addition, the autopsy also revealed that the young woman was 3 months pregnant.
Kim Tae-Heon and Seo Jung-Won met each other before she was married. He was attracted to her but they never developed a romantic relationship. Kim Tae-Heon can not allow his personal feelings to interfere with the investigation of a murder. When he starts gathering evidence, he can not ignore the fact he can see a connection between Seo Jung-Won and the dead celebrity.
He confronts her with the fact that she was picked up on CCTV entering the building, in the elevator, and leaving the building where the murder occurred. She needed to explain why she was there.
- Seo Jung-Won did not reveal that she had discovered the corpse and ran away from the crime scene. That part of the truth she kept to herself.
- It just so happened that the psychiatrist she was seeing had an office in the building. She was there to see her doctor. Whew! She got lucky! Her doctor can vouch for her. It was a perfect cover.
Kim Tae-Heon further confronted her with the fact that she was picked up at another time on CCTV, in a different place. The video shows that the murder victim handed her an envelope and also slapped her face. What was that all about? Seo Jung-Won could not deny that it happened. She said she did not have to answer because it was personal.
Kim Tae-Heon noted that Seo Jung-Won’s reaction to being questioned was almost hostile. She was shaken and that aroused his instinct and suspicions. He intended to explore the relationships between the murdered victim, Seo Jung-Won’s husband, Seo Jung-Won, and whoever else might be involved. This was murder and he had no plans to cover up anything!
Now that Seo Jung-Won suspects that the detective “might” know something and “might” link her husband to the murder, is she going to practice what she preaches? Her boss has assigned her to cover the celebrity murder case and give the report. Will she approach this news story objectively, with a clear conscience, and uncover the truth?

Viewership and Rating:
- IMDb: 9.2 out of 10 stars (Listed on IMDb as “Let’s Get Grabbed by the Collar”)
- My Drama List: 7.8 out of 10 stars
- Dramabeans: 8.8 out of 10 stars
- Viki viewers rated this series: 9.5 out of 10 stars
My personal rating is the same as the Viki viewers.
This is an excellent adaptation of a novel. The first episode engages the viewer immediately. By the second episode, the viewer has put on their Sherlock Holmes hat and is looking through a magnifying glass to figure out “Who DUN It?”
Is it the husband? Is it the politician? It’s not the celebrity since she was brutally murdered. Not just her but her unborn baby. They stabbed her repeatedly in the stomach. That was more than enough to provoke viewer outrage. Who could possibly be this cruel? Whoever it is must be brought to justice.
There’s no way you won’t want to watch all 16 episodes.
