The thing about Nintendo Switch Online relying on a back catalog of titles from ancient consoles is that, eventually, they’re going to run out of demanded games they have access to. Castlevania and Contra, for example, will never appear on NSO because they’re part of compilations Konami is selling themselves. We’d love to be proven wrong.
With over 800 titles apiece, though, the NES and the SNES have plenty of undiscovered gems you’ve probably never played before. Now that all the heavy hitters are there (except for Mario RPG) you’ll have to give Congo’s Caper a try. Released by Data East in 1993, it’s about a purple-haired caveman with a monkey’s tail. Then there’s Rival Turf, and after Tuff E Nuff, I’m beginning to wonder if Nintendo is picking these based on how weird their box art is:

If that’s the rationale these days, Phalanx can’t be far behind. Let’s get that old man with the banjo on the menu screen and complete the trifecta!
On the NES side, there’s Pinball, from the original Black Box 1985 lineup. As you might expect from something so early, there’s not much to it, but it’s a lot more enthralling than Baseball or Golf.
These three games are part of Nintendo Switch Online as of tonight.

Congos Caper was known as Wonder Boy in my country and Adventure time in other regions.
