New Gameplay Footage From Session
We have some new video from Session, the upcoming skateboard game from Crea-Ture Studios. This video shows off the nature of the gameplay and how to perform a “line” which in skate-speak is several tricks performed in succession. Not easy.
In the early 2000s, skateboarding games were huge….not so much today. Session wants to recapture and possibly bring back that old market. In contrast to the wild and crazy Tony Hawk wannabes of that era, though, Session aims for realism — to capture what the skateboarding culture was and is truly like.
Session lets players experience what skateboarding is really like — an incredible culture where there are no goals other than expressing your creativity and achieving success through hard work, perseverance and a bit of madness. This is the most authentic and grounded skateboarding game yet: Session is a conscious move away from arcade-style skateboarding games. This is no place for button-mashers!
Wait’ll you hear how Session controls. On a typical controller you have two sticks. In Session each stick controls one of your feet. How’s THAT for realism? Does it even work? We’ll find out.
The environment you get to skate in is a recreation of an actual place: lower Manhattan’s Brooklyn Banks and the surrounding Financial District. Pull off fancy moves and you’ll be able to show them off with the extended video editor that lets you control the angles, stitch together montages, and spit them out as VHS-style videos (this takes place in the past).
You’ll be able to skate around with Session soon…Crea-ture plans to debut the open beta on Steam Early Access September 17.
