My Adventures With Superman Coming To Adult Swim
Two years ago, back when Warner Bros’ prospects were a bit sunnier, the studio announced a range of superhero-based cartoons, such as Batman: Caped Crusader and My Adventures With Superman. Then Zaslav came in and massacred the whole business. Caped Crusader managed to live thanks to a deal with Amazon Prime, but no one heard anything about the Superman cartoon since, and most people assumed it’d been shut down. Guess not — here’s footage of it, with a promise of an imminent release.
At the time of announcement it also wasn’t known where the cartoon was meant to wind up. The general assumption was either HBO Max or Cartoon Network, in a deal where it’d appear on one and then the other later. The fact that it’s Adult Swim getting this is a bit of a surprise. From the surface, it doesn’t look very “adult.”
There’s already a Superman show on the air that focuses on his later years with Lois Lane raising teen boys. This one approaches the story from the opposite end, depicting a fresh young Clark Kent just starting at the Daily Planet and meeting Lois for the first time. The title suggests the cartoon could be slanted more toward Lois’s perspective. The show stars Jack Quaid (The Boys) as Superman, Alice Lee as Lois and Ishmel Sahid as Jimmy Olsen.
“Superman has remained one of the most iconic and beloved Super Heroes in the world,” says Amy Friedman at Warner Bros. “This fresh take from the Warner Bros. Animation team delivers a modern, relatable Clark Kent alongside a fearless, whip-smart Lois Lane who are navigating the small tasks of both becoming adults and trying to save the world.”
This teaser for My Adventures With Superman is rather short, but indicates the series is coming soon to Adult Swim.
