Mrs. Davis Is The Most Interesting Thing About 2023 So Far
Peacock released a teaser for their upcoming action comedy Mrs. Davis last week, but we never brought it to your attention because it was kind of weak and didn’t tell the full story. We were right to wait…a bigger, more expansive trailer was just released this afternoon, and it’s everything we were hoping for. Scope this out.
Mrs. Davis is the name of an AI program that has taken the world by storm. Everyone loves Mrs. Davis and everyone follows her commands via earpiece. Everyone, that is, except one….a nun clad in a blue habit who doesn’t trust the AI at all. And when she finds out its true intent, it’s her mission to save the world from Mrs. Davis, and to do that, she has to find the Holy Grail (for unexplained reasons). The plot also apparently involves a motorcycle stunt-race through the Randy’s Donuts sign. Did we mention the nun is played by GLOW’s Betty Gilpin? I want to marry this trailer.
They could not have timed this show better, of course — it comes to us right as a real AI is enrapturing the world and no one is sure how to feel about that. Even the people who hate the advancement of AI make comments like “it’s inevitable” and that “you can’t put the genie back in the bottle.” If there was a nun out there who could save us all from this predicament, that’d be fine with me.
Between this and Poker Face, how is PEACOCK getting all the buzzworthy TV shows as of late? Why doesn’t Netflix have a wacky show about a karate-kicking nun that has to save the world —
–oh. Right.
Well, it’s too late now.
Mrs. Davis will be eight episodes long; half the season (four episodes) will premiere on Peacock April 20, followed by the remaining four over the next few weeks, once a Thursday.
