“Miraculous Brothers” is a Korean drama series released in 2023. The two main characters ~ Yook Dong-Joo and Lee Kang San ~ meet each other by accident. But perhaps the accident that brought them together was actually a miracle. This series has 16 episodes that keep viewers thoroughly engaged.
♦ Can Lightning Cause a Miracle?
“Miraculous Brothers” begins with a young man being chased. Some people are chasing after a young man and he is running for his life. The night is dark, it’s raining, and just as lightning strikes he runs into the street and gets hit by a car. The driver of the car takes him to a hospital where he is pronounced dead. While in the hospital ER, the driver hears someone calling “Brother!” Cautiously, he approaches the bed where the young man is lying dead from his injuries. When he leans in closely, without realizing it, his breath goes into the young man’s nostrils and his eyes open. HE’S ALIVE!! It’s a MIRACLE
♦ The Offender Must Bear Responsibility For the Offense
Lee Kang San is miraculously alive but has no memory other than having a backpack, although he can’t remember what was inside the backpack. Thinking logically, however, shouldn’t the backpack he was carrying have something that could identify him? People are also wondering, if he is a missing person, why is nobody looking for him? When the doctors say Lee Kang San is well enough to be discharged from the hospital, that’s good. But he has amnesia and doesn’t know where to go. Since Yook Dong-Joo was the driver, i.e. the offender, he accepted responsibility by allowing Kang San to live with him.
Dong-Joo takes him home because he has an ulterior motive. The truth is that if Kang San ever regains his memory, Dong-Joo should probably be there so he can confess his sins. He stole a manuscript in Kang San’s backpack, published it as if he wrote it, and became successful. After failing to publish his writing for years, finally he finds this manuscript as if it’s a miracle. If Kang San regains his memory, Dong-Joo will want to be there to beg for forgiveness. Kang San may be willing to forgive. Hey! Miracles seem to be occurring, so why not hope for another miracle?
♦ It’s Best to Keep Superpowers a Secret
Even though Lee Kang San died and was resurrected with no memory, he discovers that he has superpowers. He hears voices, can feel the pain of others, and can disappear and reappear. Perhaps he’s an angel who was sent to Earth for a special task. But since he lost his memory he doesn’t know why he’s here. While trying to discover his true identity, he uses his superpowers to do good things and develops a brotherly relationship with Yook Dong-Joo. When Dong-Joo realizes Kang San has superpowers, he tells him to keep it secret. You never know how other people will react if they find out.
Is Dong-Joo behaving like a good brother? Or is it that he does not want to add to his worries? Right now his ONLY worry is that Kang San will remember the manuscript that was in his backpack and know that Yook Dong-Joo took credit for writing it. Once he is revealed as a fraud, Dong-Joo’s life will revert to him being a miserable failure again. Or … ?? Maybe not! Miracles are happening after all.
♦ Instead of More Miracles, There Are More Worries
Initially, Dong-Joo only worried that Kang San might discover he had stolen the manuscript. Before long, his worries begin to multiply.
- He gets worried when an anonymous phone caller tells him that the manuscript should have never been published. Uh oh! Someone else knows about the manuscript. Who? Are they threatening him?
- He becomes even more worried when a police detective tells him that the murders in the manuscript are happening in real life and that the present-day murders are linked to a 27-year-old murder case.
Dong-Joo wanted to convince everybody that the story was fiction that flowed from the writer’s imagination. But his worries have multiplied. He begins to conduct his own research about the murders. In the process, he makes a mind-boggling discovery. It appears that Lee Kang San, the resurrected amnesiac with superpowers might also be a TIME TRAVELER!
Superpowers; a 27-year-old murder; hidden crime; and now time travel?? The plot thickens.
